Sustainable Tourism Policy

Tourism can be a very destructive force. The negative impacts of tourism development can gradually destroy the environmental resources on which it depends. Active Tourism requires active physical and mental involvement of the tourist, including more adventure and action than traditional Ecotourism or Cultural Tourism. Both Ecotourism and Active Tourism aim to have as little impact as possible on the ecosystem and the visited country to ensure that development is a positive experience for local people who used to live and work there. Within the context of touristic development, sustainability is then defined as the ability to use present resources without consuming them faster as regeneration makes possible. Opposed to the consequences of traditional Mass Tourism, both phylosophies are committed to conserve the environment as well as local culture, traditions and values. This approach to travel ensures that economic benefit goes directly to local businesses and communities increasing their economic importance. In order to minimize the potentially negative social and environmental impacts of tourism, Easy Sicily – since its own establishment – want to propose a tourism more environmentally aware. Our services are delivered primarily to small groups by small-scale businesses requiring the lowest possible consumption of non-renewable resources. It also means travelling in small groups that are less intrusive and offer more opportunity for local interaction. Natural resources, cultural and historical heritage that exist in our country, make it such a wonderful place but, unfortunately, the global world philosophy does not respect the rhythms of life and a harmonious relationship with nature. Sicily risks losing everything if people who live linked at this geographic reality will be obliged to move away owing to their traditional methods of production and the development of ecological forms of agriculture, arts and crafts will be disadvantaged. Easy Sicily – in order to contribute to the development of sustainable agriculture and the knowledge of food production – offers small group adventures that:

• respect local people, their culture and environment;

• promote knowledge and use of local products;

• establishes relationships with environmental associations and producers.
