Today, a quiet country road that crosses old and recent lava flows, takes you to the Silvestri craters (2000m.). These craters mark the beginning of the small Etna South tourist area. Back on the saddle, start your downhill ride through luxuriant woods that alternate with wide lava rock formations and the paved streets of the typical villages perched on the slope of the volcano. A pleasant dinner tonight, will be served in a lovely and peaceful hotel surrounded by country and with amazing views that stretches on the east coast of Sicily.

The ride today begins, just for a short stretch of road, following the previous evening path and continues northwards around the slopes of Mt Etna. One hour later you get to the Monti Sartorius’ pathway, with seven volcanic craters date from the 1865 eruption that lie all in a row like buttonholes. We continue riding downhill leading onto the “Quota Mille”, so called because the road surrounded by nature’s savage beauty is roughly at an altitude of 1000m.
Tonight, your welcoming agriturismo is located in area surrounded by a gorgeous park. The stone buildings of this 500 year old winery and terracotta pots are overgrown with moss and vines.
This morning we pedal first to a medieval town located a few miles away, Randazzo. Located on the border between Mount Etna and Nebrodi Mountains, overlooking the beautiful Alcantara river valley and also known as ” the black town” because of lava stones used as building material, Randazzo is a lovely village to visit. Next, the route descending to the valley, takes you along a lovely path immersed in the lush vegetationt of the river banks. The river penetrates the gorgecaused by the meeting between hot lava flows with the icy waters of the river. A series of deep rocky valleys splashed with waterfalls and prismatic rocks rewards you with picture-perfect views of the canyon which is twenty meters deep but only few meters wide. Amazingly, this gorge also marks the divide between Peloritani and Nebrodi Mountains, with the Etna volcano.
A luxury country resort, surrounded by olive trees, vineyards and citrus groves welcomes you for the night.

The medieval hilltop town of Castelmola, perched on a mountain-peak as a natural balcony above Taormina and already in the circuit of the most beautiful villages in Italy is the prelude of your final destination: the world-known pretty tourist town of Taormina. It’s tiny but packed of alleys with picturesque painted jars, medieval buildings, winding streets with bars, cafés, restaurants, art galleries, designer, shoes, ceramics, antiques, souvenir shops, and lots more.
