OVERVIEW

During the second half of 19th century, puppetry was the most popular performance art. This guided visit inside the Lab is very different from the usual attractions for tourists. You will meet the only family in Sicily that has made these puppets and has performed in Italy and the rest of the world since 1921. More than just staging a show, the Napoli family will explain to you the technique and the rules of this old tradition inside their traditional lab in Via Reitano, situated in the heart of Catania. The members of the family work at everything is required to prepare a show: handmade puppets, costumes, sceneries and theater texts. The most interesting thing to know about Sicilian puppets is that each of them is a unique work of art: a wooden sculpture with metal armour, clothes and other accessories all strictly hand-forged. The visit begins with an introduction to the materials and the old tools used in creating these works of art. The visitors will also be allowed to handle the puppets. At the end of the visit, you will enjoy a short performance.
After leaving the Napoli family’s lab, you have time at leisure to stroll, on your own, the narrow streets of the colorful and picturesque outdoor fish market, the pedestrian area of the Baroque town, the main street: Via Etnea with abundance of quaint shops, restaurants and cafés.[/su_note]

It  is calculated per person  according to the number of participants and the point of pick up, as follows:

2 pax  – 3 pax –  4 pax – 5 pax –  6 pax – 7 pax.

With more participants than two people the price lowers gradually.

*Discounted price (applicable only with at least two full paying adults):
– people aged 12-14 years old: 20% off;
– under 12 years old: free of charge.

Over 14 years old, same price as adults.

Privately, a booking form – which  incorporates all terms and conditions (deposit, payment, cancellation and responsibility) – will be sent you, to be signed for acceptance.  If the booking is made within 30 days before the tour’s start date, the full amount is required at the time of reservation.
